Challenge me a Christmas Card - Holly Jolly

Last year my friend Michelle Lupton asked me if I wanted to play in her .....

I had so much fun last year that I didn't hesitate when she asked me to play again this year. Our theme for the post today was "Holly Jolly" which was open to lots of interpretation. I chose to use this gorgeous image called "Christmas Mouse" from Whimsy Stamps. He was a freebie on the Whimsy Stamps Facebook page and I just couldn't wait to colour him up. By framing him with some die cut Holly I managed to fulfill the challenge brief. I can't wait to see how Michelle interpreted the challenge - you can pop over and check out Michelle's post with me :)

Aurora Wings Challenge #73

It's time to showcase my card for the latest challenge over at Aurora Wings Challenges. This time our theme is.....

Image may contain: text

I've used the absolutely STUNNING Christmas Mermaid for my card. She has a sea based Christmas tree to pop her gift under with a fishing net tree and a star fish topper. And of course pearls are the perfect decoration along with 'sea glass' rhinestones (OK that last was a stretch but at Christmas who cares LOL).
I've also made her shimmer as if she's wet by using a glitter gel pen. You can see it better in this picture - it looks lovely under lights along with the gold glitter and sparkle from the rhinestones!

It's Time to Take the Christmas Express

Halloween is over and it's time to start with Christmas over at Simply Betty Stamps. This cutie is Christmas Express Jude from the Steampunk Christmas Teens set. I had so much fun colouring this guy and his train full of goodness up. Maybe it's because I have a son and it's wonderful to do something a little more masculine, or maybe it's because I just love anything Christmas.

Aurora Wings Challenge #72

It's time to showcase my card for the latest challenge over at Aurora Wings Challenges. This time our theme is.....

Image may contain: cloud, sky, text, nature and outdoor

I simply love this gorgeous image called Skull and Roses. I was released in September and this month's theme was the perfect time for me to colour it up. I created the frame last year sometime and have used it so many time as I can upload digital papers or images behind the opening and other images or sentiments on top. Such a quick way to create a gorgeous single layered image.

Here it it for you to download if you wish :) It's a .png with the central area cleared and a wide frame around it. Just click on it and save for use later.

Dancing Halloween Night Away

Today it's my turn to again showcase a little more Halloween magic from Simply Betty Stamps. I had such fun colouring up this image and popping it onto a card. The image is called Skeleton Dance Betty  I tried to give her a gorgeous sequined dress using lots of white gel pen dots. I can just imagine it glittering in the moonlight.

The background forest was done using a series of Poppycraft dies, while the spiderweb and ghosts were cut using La-La Land Crafts dies.

Aurora Wings Challenge #71

This month over at Aurora Wings the challenge is to be........

Image may contain: sky

My card has been inspired by the gorgeous Siren image and the myth of the Siren's Song. It may be an obvious choice but then it was also the perfect excuse to colour up this gorgeous image.

I wish you could see the way this sparkles in the light - it adds to the ethereal magic of the image. I sparingly used a glitter gel pen to give her that sparkle.

Horror Girls from Simply Betty Stamps

It's release day over at Simply Betty Stamps and today there are FOUR new images based on characters from Horror Films - but the twist is they are the Horror Girls. You can find them HERE. I have to admit they are a mix of beauty and horror with Betty's unique drawing style.

I've created 2 cards, the first using the character inspired by Pennywise the Clown and the second one inspired by the evil doll Chucky. The other two Horror Girls are based on Edward Scissorhands and Jason Voorhees from the movie Friday the 13th.

For my Pennywise card I merged the image onto a B&W checkered background before colouring her in. I also added some colour to the background to make it a little more crazy.

My Chucky background includes some stamped blood 'splatter' and a couple of die cut crows to add to the creep factor.

Simply Betty Stamps Progressive Challenge - September 2018

It's time for the Simply Betty Stamps September Progressive Challenge and this month the image was designed to celebrate Betty and her husband Chris' 13th wedding anniversary - you can find it HERE. It's a gorgeous image but since the number 13 is included at the base of the characters I couldn't figure out how I could use it for my own purposes so I cropped it out - I hope Betty forgives me!!!

No automatic alt text available.Check out the gorgeous sketch we had to use for the challenge. Not only is the sketch great but the artwork on it was so fabulous that I was tempted just to colour it up as it was LOL. Instead I chose the adorable Lilac Sprite to colour up. Of course there's also lots of my favourite lime green in the mix - it goes so well with the purples ;)

Hocus Pocus from Simply Betty Stamps

Today over at Simply Betty Stamps there are EIGHT fabulous new images being released and they are based on the characters from the film Hocus Pocus. I'm using 3 here today, with the Black Kitty being added to the scene in my first card. I've merged them over a digi designer paper with the sentiment after I framed the paper. Such a FUN technique which makes the putting together of the card super easy after colouring.

For my second card I've gone with a more traditional design, layering die cuts, papers and embellishments with the coloured image. I was really happy with how both turned out - but then it's hard not to come up with something gorgeous with these awesome images.

Both witches have the black sections of their dresses drenched in clear Wink of Stella, I wish this photographed well as it's stunning IRL.

Aurora Wings Puppy Sprite

Meet the adorable new Puppy Sprite from Aurora Wings and for this weekend only you'll get him FREE in a Gift with Purchase offer - see below.

I've made a card using two 1.5"x 11" strips for the sides and then I've joined them together with 2 bridges, one is the sentiment and the other is the puppy group and fence. There are also bridges holding the back of the card together but these are placed so that they are hidden by the front elements. Such a fun card to do and it's also a great way of using up long strips of cardstock.

I just had to include my little girl Holly into the playgroup - I'm sure you can spot her if you look - she's a cheeky one just like Holly was when she was a pup.

Aurora Wings Challenge #69

It's time for a new challenge over at Aurora Wings Challenges at this time the theme is ...

'ANYTHIING GOES'

I always try to think a little out of the box with these challenges and today I've come up with

 'Mini Sprites Under Glass'

I've made a keychain and fridge magnet using glass 'tiles' to cover over my images. Being able to create fun projects like these is one reason I love digis. You can't re-size a rubber or acrylic stamp to suit your project like you can a digi.

For the fridge magnet I used Poppy Sprite and for the keychain I used Pierrot Sprite

One hint for these - I should have sealed the surface of the image before gluing to the glass to avoid the little bit of colour bleeding I got. It would also have kept the poppy colours a little more separate than they are to give more depth. Ah well - live and learn, I still love them ;)

Simply Betty Stamps Progressive Challenge - July 2018

This month you have a choice of 2 fabulous beachy families to use for the Progressive Challenge, I've used the Gothic Family but there is also the 'regular family' image you can see on the left. They are both on sale HERE and once you've made your choice the challenge is...
1. Add Glitter!!
2. Please make a full project.
3. Please upload to this album July 2018 Progressive Challenge by the deadline.

Deadline: August 14th @ 6PM PST
For mine to meet the challenge criteria I stamped the lightning in versamark and then added gold embossing powerd before heat setting. I then went over with somme gold glitter stickles for extra sparkle. The daughter's sunglasses also have glittered lenses.
Now, here's a fun twist....THE PRIZE. As the winner of the July Progressive challenge you will be the star for the August Progressive Challenge....this means you get a YOU Digi version of YOU! You choose the theme, you will get to choose the challenge! Is that not fun?!! You, in digi form leading the Progressive Challenge for August! YAY!!

The background, sentiment and lightning were done using Altenew's Rain, Hail or Shine stamp set.

Today over at Simply Betty Stamps it's all about Grinchmas. There are 5 fabulous new images in the set. This one is called Grinch with Roast, for obvious reasons LOL. When lime greens are your favourite colour it's not too hard to realise that I would have had a blast colouring up this guy. I also love to colour fluffy bears so he was doubly fun using those techniques ;) I just love Betty's version of this cheeky fella!
